"Turnaround Is Not Transformation"

 

 

As the economic problems continue and the recession continues to drain cash from many businesses, we presented to the Institute for Turnaround in April 2009 on behalf of The Deming Forum.  The session looked at the difference between the Turnaround of an organisation and its Transformation, using Deming’s System of Management as a lens. 

 

We explored the diverse range of activities needed to transform an organisation for the long term, the culture change required, the key disciplines for success and how businesses should seek to embark on this journey well before they become distressed.

The Deming Forum is a not for profit educational organisation which promotes the studying and application of the management philosophy developed by Dr. W.E. Deming. This approach has guided and enabled the transformation of numerous organisations and its principles are fundamental for the successful and sustainable development of all types of organisation - in industry, government and education.

They organise an annual conference, The Transformation Forum, at which speakers from all over the world give insights into Dr Deming's thinking and explain how his approach has helped them transform their own organisations.
